For his 18th birthday, the precocious creator of electronic pop Petit Biscuit (aka Mehdi Benjelloun) has released his debut album Presence, which was produced and mixed completely independently.
Presence, which follows on from a self-titled 2015 EP, was mastered by legendary engineer Chab (Daft Punk, Air, Sebastien Tellier) and features guests Lido, Bipolar Sunshine and Panama.
A classical musician from an early age, Benjelloun plays piano, guitar, cello and more. He began experimenting with electronics at a very young age as he developed his signature sound. He enjoys using “vocal chops” – cutting up, pitch-shifting and repeating words and syllables, creating a rhythmic or textural effect.
Presence is inspired by the exceptional moments he has experienced since he started gaining recognition.
