With the Football World Cup looming, it is time to get ourselves in the mood.
On Sat 30th June, Liverpool-based festival Art of Football is organising a “celebration of the creative culture and social fabric which underpins the beautiful game” which will see DJs, MCs and musicians will perform for the Disco Sócrates night. Known for his political engagement, Brazilian legend “Doctor Socrates” will be the artists’ spiritual guide for a night of genre-bending sets and musical exploration of music and football’s social and political impact around the globe.
To that end, Disco Sócrates gathers a broad line-up encompassing artists from different horizons. The international programme includes Nigerian born, Berlin-based soulful jazz vocalist Wayne Snow; performance artist Oko Ebombo who fuses beats and Parisian jazz; Cairo’s Rozzma, a protégé of Acid Arab who brings his own blend of psychedelia and bass to traditional Arabic music; and Iranian, Liverpool based MC Gomnam also known as Farhood.
